چکیده

Although there have been many advances in the medical field regarding disease control and management, it has demonstrated that certain diseases infections still represent a significant challenge. For example, presence of oral biofilms indicates virulence underlying infection different dental diseases, including peri-implantitis, periapical periodontitis, gingivitis, caries. We discussed various mechanical, chemical, biological modalities can be applied to limit plaque formation secondary physical brushing might efficacious cleaning, evidence cannot eradicate bacteria. Accordingly, using chemical materials is essential achieve adequate disinfection enhance outcomes. Many proposed literature, such as nanomaterials, organic compounds arginine, dietary substances, cleansers current study. Bacteriophages are also promising this context. However, they need further exploration their efficacy safety. In addition, resistance against these serious issue needs addressed future research.

Comparing oral captopril and sublingual nitrates in controlling urgent

Introduction: Hypertension crisis is one of the most common reasons of the patient’s reference to emergency units. Many intravenous and oral drugs are available for controlling hypertension crisis. Intravenous nitrates are one of these drugs but there are few studies regarding the effect of oral nitrates on hypertension crisis. This study compares the effect of oral captopril and sublingual i...

Cyclic Dinucleotides in Oral Bacteria and in Oral Biofilms

Oral cavity acts as a reservoir of bacterial pathogens for systemic infections and several oral microorganisms have been linked to systemic diseases. Quorum sensing and cyclic dinucleotides, two "decision-making" signaling systems, communicate to regulate physiological process in bacteria. Discovery of cyclic dinucleotides has a long history, but the progress in our understanding of how cyclic ...

Control of oral biofilms.

Oral biofilms play a major role in the etiology of oral diseases, and have broad implications for quality of life, systemic health and economic costs. Hypotheses regarding the mechanisms by which oral biofilms exert their pathogenic potential have evolved over time. Early theories in which oral diseases were associated solely with the quantity of colonizing biofilms have been replaced by the un...

A microfluidic platform with pH imaging for chemical and hydrodynamic stimulation of intact oral biofilms.

A microfluidic platform with a fluorescent nanoparticle-based sensor is demonstrated for real-time, ratiometric pH imaging of biofilms. Sensing is accomplished by a thin patterned layer of covalently bonded Ag@SiO2+FiTC nanoparticles on an embedded planar glass substrate. The system is designed to be sensitive, responsive and give sufficient spatial resolution to enable new micro-scale studies ...
